Weight Lifting > Cardio

Heavy Lifting > Cardio

Why do we always run to the treadmill when we want to loose weight? Cardio is an essential component of any workout. It helps your body burn fat, calories, reduce your risk of heart diseases/heart attack, increases lung capacity, improves your sex life and many other great benefits. Although I regularly incorporate cardio into my weekly workout regimen, it’s my side dish compared to my main meal “Weight Training”. I don’t do anymore than 15 minutes of cardio daily and here’s why

⤵️ Weight training is the shit

If you are looking to burn body fat (even while resting) and build lean muscle mass you need to weight train! I saw a complete difference in my body when I gave up the hour long cardio and began to lift heavy. I also prefer not to run anyway unless it’s from dogs or the police, but that’s another story. Weight training helps elevate your metabolism and increase stamina & mobility. I can twerk for a whole song now! Seriously, we all know that if you don’t use it, you lose it. Lifting weights can also improve bone density helping to preserve and enhance your muscles. This is crucially important especially for aging.

Ladies, you will not get bulky if you lift weights. For the folks in the back.. YOU WILL NOT GET BULKY IF YOU LIFT WEIGHTS. I used to really think lifting weights would make me look like a man. No sis, whoever told you that is a hater and they don’t want you to be a snack. Weight training helps improve cognitive function and reduces depression. I am a witness. Start with light weights and keep increasing the weight. If you can throw the weight up and you not making one of them ugly faces, it’s too light, go heavier. Boom! You Beyoncé now.

In the past, I’ve definitely been guilty of spending hours and hours on cardio to burn body fat, but after beginning weight training and seeing the difference in my body I have never turned back. At the end of the day, what works for your body, works for your body. Weight training is a personal preference but can most definitely benefit everyone. If you are struggling to lose weight EAT RIGHT and incorporate weight training into your workout regimen and watch the magic happen. What do you focus on in the gym? Cardio or weights? Let’s chat.
