From Basic to LITTY (Wall Painting With The Hubs)

What do you do when you face unfortunate situations, you make the best out of them. Life is so funny and crazy. Here we were moving into our new apartment and everything just went left, I mean all the way left. Unfortunately,  it left us looking for a new home in less than 48 hours. Can y'all feel my frustration though? When we walked into our new "give me whatever you have available" apartment, I was not happy with the way it looked, at all. My husband and I are both home bodies, so our living space is VERY important to us (more him then me). It was super small and the walls were painted this hideous vanilla yellow color. I told my husband "Aw hell naw" we have to do something, and we have to do it quick. Wallah, lets paint all the walls. We always paint anyway, but this time we wanted something different, something a little more meaningful than just bold colors.... Inspiration walls! Walls that constantly remind you to push forward in your transition as you're on this journey to the "perfect life for you". I was excited to start mapping everything out. It took my husband 3-4 days to finish our wall art, and it turned out to be just perfect. Check out the meanings for each wall below.

Why we choose the color black

We always choose to paint our walls black because we both believe that it's such a powerful color. When most people think of black they think of dark and scary, but we call it home. It's who we are, unique and undefinable. Y'all woke or naw?

Black Wall with Polka Dots- The first thing you see when you walk through our door. B L A C K. Never forget to embrace your culture. Love who you are, and don't be ashamed of adversity. We both lovvvvveeeeee being black. I mean it's just super Lit. If I died tomorrow and god told me I could choose one person to come back as, I'll just ask to be black again. That's how much I love and embrace who I am. When people walk into our home, I want them to feel our energy, and the love that we have for everyone, but most importantly ourselves.

Black & White Stripes- The black and the white represents a mixture of two families coming together. We are both SUPER huge on family, especially our immediate family. So we decided to put all of our sibs and parents on this wall. I come from a family of 11, and he comes from a family of 7 so that's why it's hella pictures. Lol

Inspiration Wall- We are all about inspiring each other and other people. It's important to receive and feed others knowledge. Looking at the words remind us to be more confident in ourselves. We feel that it is important to embrace the things that we are and what we aspire to be. We are big thinkers, and we both know that the only option is to win. A positive life= a positive mind set. You have to speak it and pray it into your existence.

Splatter Wall- I wanted to be a kid and splatter paint on the wall. (Judge yo momma) We used this wall to hang some of our fav art work. We used paintings with color to make the room more vibrant and creative.

My Roomie daughter (she's 3) created the pictures hanging from the fire place. She's going to be an artist.

Communication Wall- Man, I can't stress how important it is to talk to God. He is always our first go to, regardless! Communication is truly the key to everything. We have to learn to live more, learn more, and really just enjoy life. The phones (hung up) represents the importance of putting your phone DOWN. Hell, turn it off for at least 2 hours a day and really enjoy some YOU time. Meditate, read, run, do something different! We are so consumed by our phones its sickening. Read books and feed yourself some knowledge. You're either one step ahead of everyone, or you're with the rest of the crowd, and we ain't NEVER been followers soooooooo, yeah. I just want to invite y'all on this litty affirmation journey with us.

PolkaDots- Because of course they're cute! And we will always be #connectthedotsons

Hope you enjoyed! Let me know which wall is your FAV!
